Four People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Descends into Chaos
On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unapproved gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento became the scene of a shooting when 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were in the midst of breaking up the gathering.
A Timeline of Events
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County law enforcement was alerted reporting individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. A follow-up call described a potential physical confrontation and individuals fleeing the scene.
Aerial units was utilized and surveyed the area from above but did not locate any ongoing altercation.
At the same time, an estimated several hundred attendees had come together at Howe Community Park for what law enforcement classified as an unlawful gathering. Deputies encircled the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over their vehicle speakers.
As officers worked to clear the park, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire were fired — sending hundreds of people running in all directions.
The Injured
Four individuals — a woman read more and three men, ranging in age through their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one suffered read more moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire was on scene and assisted in the field.
At the Scene
The shooting took place along the Cottage Way side side of the park in the vicinity of the Home Depot get more info store at the 2200 block. The nearby Home Depot was placed under temporary lockdown. Additional shell casings were found along Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the metal fence adjacent to the Home Depot store — confirming a shooter who fired southward from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot. CSI investigators and detectives combed the scene for evidence through the night.
Suspects
Through scanner communications, it was established Home Depot Sacramento shooting that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was detained in website Solano County with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were sent to transport the suspects back and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Footage confirmed that two individuals fired weapons.
